Pool Bottom Restoration & Vinyl Liner Installation
Niagara Region Pool Renovation Project
Sometimes a pool renovation reveals surprises hiding beneath the surface.
This particular project started as a standard vinyl liner replacement, but once the old liner and safety cover were removed, we discovered a much larger issue. The entire pool bottom had been installed extremely thin by a previous installer, leaving it fragile, uneven, and deteriorating.
In many situations like this, the typical recommendation is to remove the entire pool bottom and rebuild it from scratch.
However, there was one complication.
The new custom vinyl liner had already been manufactured for the pool. On top of that, the homeowners were facing budget constraints and simply could not afford a full bottom replacement.
Rather than walking away or forcing an expensive rebuild, our team took a different approach.
A Creative Restoration Solution
After carefully assessing the structure of the existing base, we determined that the bottom could actually be salvaged and restored rather than completely replaced.
Our team:
• Stabilized and reinforced the weakened areas
• Re-leveled and re-compacted the base
• Rebuilt thin sections with new material
• Smoothed and refinished the entire pool floor
• Ensured the bottom was properly shaped and ready for liner installation
This approach allowed us to essentially create a new bottom surface without the cost and disruption of a full demolition.
Installing the New Vinyl Liner
Once the restoration was complete, we proceeded with the installation of the already-manufactured custom vinyl liner.
The result was a smooth, structurally sound pool floor that allowed the liner to sit properly and perform exactly as it should.
The finished pool looked and functioned like a full renovation, but at a fraction of the cost the homeowners were expecting.
The Result
✔ Pool bottom restored and structurally sound
✔ Custom liner successfully installed
✔ Major cost savings for the homeowner
✔ Pool ready to enjoy for the season
This project is a great example of why experience matters in pool renovation. Instead of immediately recommending the most expensive option, we focus on finding smart solutions that work for the homeowner.
If your pool has issues with its liner, floor, plumbing, or structure, our team will always look for the most practical and cost-effective solution first.
